Link (1767-1851) was a German naturalist. In 4, Brown borrows from an earlier issue of The Monthly Magazine, 10.4 (Nov. 1800), 343. The Monthly Magazine attributes this passage to Abbé Jean-Baptiste Le Chevalier (1752-1836), a French archaeologist. And in 7, Brown adapts with minor changes from The London Medical and Physical Journal IV (Dec. 1800) 490-91.]
